Mid-Autumn Festival

An afternoon for families, with stalls and games run by our students, mooncakes, a lion dance, and money raised for children's Mid-Autumn gifts.

The afternoon

Lanterns, mooncakes and a courtyard of families

Year 7 spent the morning making paper lanterns for the festival. In the afternoon families came to a courtyard full of lanterns and student stalls.

Year 1 sang “Lemon Tree”. At the mooncake table, adults helped children shape the filling and press it into moulds.

Cinnamon & Spice Hội An baked cinnamon buns, focaccia and bread for the day.

Run by students

The stalls and games

Students planned their own booths. They made the signs, set up the tables and served customers all afternoon.

  • Primary sold ice cream and ran carnival games.
  • Lower Secondary sold banana bread and ran a DIY craft booth.
  • Upper Secondary did face painting and henna, and hosted a limbo competition for students and parents.

The profits went back to the students, who gave 15% of them to Da Nang Go.

To finish

Two lions in the courtyard

A red lion and a yellow lion danced on the grass, along the upstairs balcony and down the stairs, then came in among the families. Children gave them lucky money, and a few brave ones rode on their backs.

The dance ended with both lions unrolling Mid-Autumn banners, and Mr. Seth spoke to the families.

Giving back

Mid-Autumn gifts with Da Nang Go

Da Nang Go is a non-profit volunteer group in Đà Nẵng. This Mid-Autumn they collected snacks, milk, notebooks, rice and lanterns, packed them as gifts and took them to children who needed them.

Our students gave 15% of their stall profits. Parents gave money too, and bid on lanterns in a silent auction. Da Nang Go's campaign reached more than 850 children.
