Quarter 1 Showcase

An afternoon when our students showed their families the work they did in English this quarter, from debates and maths posters to a plant role play.

Upper Secondary

The dinner party debate

Each Upper Secondary student chose a question and imagined a dinner party where famous people from history and today argue it out. On their posters they wrote what each guest says, in English and in that guest's voice, with the guests agreeing, disagreeing and answering each other.

Napoleon and Abraham Lincoln argued about taxes and revolution, Einstein about artificial intelligence, and Dolly Parton about whether people are born to work together. Other tables took on an age limit for social media and whether parents should genetically enhance their children. At the showcase the students guided their parents through their debates, and one talked his grandfather through his.

Lower Secondary

Maths questions for the parents

Lower Secondary showed the models they made in Art of Science, the art class that goes with their Cambridge Science, and posters that explain this quarter's maths in their own words.

Then they turned the questions on their parents. The students wrote a quiz for each poster, on square and cube numbers among others, and parents worked out their answers on sticky notes and small whiteboards.

Primary

How a plant grows

Ms. Solo began with a short introduction for the parents. Then our Primary students acted out how a plant grows. In paper costumes as the sun, the rain, the plants and the gardener, they spoke and sang their parts in English.

Next came a quiz: families rolled a dice and read out the questions on the cards, and the children answered in English. To finish, families looked through the children's books, from spelling tests to the sentences they now write, and Ms. Solo talked with any parents who wanted a word about their child.

Early Years

Letters, patterns and counting

In Early Years, families went round the classroom stations with the children and their teacher. There were letter tiles for blending sounds into words and writing them, beads to thread into patterns, number cards to count and match, and a tray of foam and colours.

Thank you

To everyone who came

Thank you to the families who came and joined in, and to our students, who got their work ready and talked you through it.

Come and see it for yourself.

Walk around with us for an hour, Monday to Friday. Not in Hội An yet? We will do a video call.
